TYPHOON HAIYAN, PHILIPPINES – URGENT APPEAL FOR FINANCIAL RELIEF ASSISTANCE

Dear Vincentians,

As you all know, Super Typhoon Haiyan hit central Philippines on Friday November 8, taking thousands of lives and hundreds of thousands of people are missing or injured; destruction of habitats and infrastructures is widespread in the City of Tacloban (pop. 220,000) and surrounding villages.

As a result of this terrible catastrophe, the President General, in the attached letter, has launched an international appeal for donations to assist Vincentians of the Philippines in their relief efforts. Letter from the International President : Appeal for Philippines

Please send your donations to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Regional Council address and they will be forwarded to National who will then forward it to CGI. Make out all cheques to: Society of Saint Vincent de Paul and in the memo section Philippine Disaster Relief.

Regional will be sending their first cheque to National in 2 weeks and will continue to send all donations as they are received. The address for Regional Council is:

Society of Saint Vincent de Paul BC & Yukon Regional Council
1738 East Hastings Street, Vancouver B.C., V5L 1S9

I would also ask that Vincentians keep the people of the Philippines, particularly our Brothers and Sisters Vincentian, in their prayers in this moment of great suffering.

Thanking you in advance for your generosity and for the love of those in such great need.
